I have taken various shots within my video and within Earl Sweatshirt's video and compared them:
Here is a medium shot from both videos which show a monster or an antagonist behind them. Both of these shots add a sense of tension within the video as the viewer as they are unsure as to what is behind the artist in both shots. The main differences in the shot include the lighting and size of the monster in Earl's video. The location of Earl's video is vastly different to mine as it is a suburban environment in an american neighbourhood. In comparison my video is set in a messy almost decaying forest.
Both mine and Earl's video both use a long shot of the main artist sat cross legged in their location but their position is used in very different ways. My shot is a very dense one which focuses on both the background and the foreground with the monster watching over the artist. Again my shot is a lot brighter than Earl's video and has little to no props used except for the masks for the antagonist. Earl's video on the other hand uses a more focused and central shot. A frost white car is used to stand out in the darkness of the shot and Earl is on top of it instead of on the floor like my actress. Feature artists on the track are seen within the white car with monsters looking at them from the side. The main difference between the shots is the angle. My video is on a slightly slanted angle to show the depth of the field with the monster within it. Earls' shot is much more focused on the car as the shot is used to segway into scenes featuring the featured artist 'Vince Staples' who is sat in the driver seat of the car.
These are both shots of the monsters in their environment traversing. While my shot is a medium close-up of the two monsters; Earl's video shows multiple monsters on bicycles in a long shot. This is probably due to the more open environment in the urban setting and bicycles fit well with the urban themes presented. I chose my shot to be a more close-p as I did not have the resources to hire more than two actors to play the monsters.
